Actually,
Lakeshore Local will take approximately 1.3 million passengers away from the Go service, but these are low fare passengers, that Go never really wanted to service in the first place. Service times will improve for longer haul Go passengers. Short haul Lakeshore West riders will of course have service times dramatically improved, for a lower operating subsidy and cost than GO. The net impact on Toronto's roads will be huge though, as a total of 2.9 million additional car trips will be diverted from the roads and highways of the Toronto region. Cheaper faster, and less subsidy? Sounds good no?
